The Beginnings –
Woven With
Tradition
Every art reflects a story. A story filled with emotions, truth, and at times rich in culture and heritage about us. The art and the artist here are our weavers, weaving our tradition with a blend of modernism, with their hands and the elegant earthly materials at their disposal. Our vision is to bring about a way of life for both weaving and the weavers, and it all started with just a mere collection of South Indian cultural identity – Dhotis.
The Evolution –
When Art Became Our Voice
Our art became our voice, the weavers’ hands became the vocal chords, and our production bloomed like an arrow shot from a bow, with our weavers’ and customers’ best interests at heart, without compromising quality or quantity. This led to improved weaving techniques, increased client satisfaction, and weavers mastering the latest methods to sustain themselves. Modern instruments and machinery set our path forward. As the next generation emerged in the late 90s and early 2000s, our ambition and vision grew bigger. Every generation brought fresh ideas that fuelled Valarmathi’s passion to uplift our weavers’ journey and customer preferences.
History of Weaving
Nestled on the banks of the Cauvery, Erode exhibits a centuries-old weaving heritage. Here, artisans have been crafting cottons and silks with utmost devotion, turning every piece of cloth into a heartfelt story. Gold and silver borders shine upon fields, signifying festivals, rituals, and celebrations of daily life.
The art of weaving transcends mere craft; it embodies a lifestyle. Families have passed down the art through generations, weaving every thread with care and respect. The sound of the shuttle, the rhythm of the threads, and the detailed patterns are all part of a living tradition.
At Valarmathi Clothing, we are proud to carry this legacy forward. Every piece we create celebrates the skill and devotion of our ancestors, while ensuring that the soul of Erode’s looms lives on in your modern wardrobe.
